Delta State Created
Delta State was created in 1991 from the southern half of the former Bendel State, with Asaba as its capital.
Agriculture and Economy
Delta State relies on agriculture, exporting petroleum, rubber, timber, palm oil, and palm kernels through its ports.
Industries and Steel Production
Delta State's industries include steel production, glass and bottle factories, textiles, plywood, natural gas, boatbuilding, and furniture.
Asaba Town
Delta State's capital on west bank of the Niger River. Former trading post for palm exports, now a hub for education and transport.
